Medal Sweep at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile November 2023

The Pan American Games, often referred to simply as the Pan Am Games, are a major sporting event held every four years in the Americas, much like the Olympics. This multi-sport event involves athletes from countries across the Americas, which include North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean. The games aim to promote unity and friendship among the nations of the Americas through sports and cultural exchange.

The Pan American Games are governed by the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) and are officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The first Pan American Games were held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1951, and they have continued to grow in size and importance since then.

These games provide a platform for thousands of athletes to compete in a wide range of sports, including traditional Olympic events like athletics, swimming, and gymnastics, as well as sports that are particularly popular in the Americas, such as baseball, softball, and various martial arts. The inclusion of a diverse range of sports reflects the cultural and athletic diversity of the participating countries.

The Pan American Games are an exciting event that showcases the talents of athletes from across the Americas and serves as a stepping stone for many to reach the international stage, including the Summer and Winter Olympics. These games not only celebrate sportsmanship and competition but also promote unity and understanding among the nations of the Americas.

My Journey with the USA Team:

I am particularly thrilled to share that I have had the privilege of participating in the Pan American Games on three occasions, proudly representing Team USA. In both 2015 and 2019, I achieved the remarkable distinction of being a three-time Gold Medalist at the Pan American Games, emerging as the only player ever to win three Gold Medals in a single Pan American Games, across Individuals, Doubles, and Team events.

Medal Sweep 2023:

This year in 2023, I obtained two Silver medals in Individuals and Women’s Doubles, and the Gold at Women’s Teams, a remarkable testament to my dedication, passion, and continuous pursuit of excellence in my sport.

In an exhilarating moment at the Pan American Games, I secured the silver medal, alongside my exceptional teammates from Team USA, Olivia Fiechter who clinched the gold, and Marina Stefanoni who took home the bronze. Together, we have achieved an extraordinary milestone that will be etched into the storied history of the Pan American Games.

This marks the very first instance where three athletes from the same country have earned gold, silver, and bronze medals in the women’s singles tournament, a truly remarkable accomplishment that reflects the culmination of our unwavering dedication and hard work in this highly competitive arena. It’s worth noting that achieving such a complete “medal sweep” is typically an elusive feat, given the tournament’s format. These moments define the true spirit of the Pan American Games, and it has been a profound honor to be part of this historic milestone.

In my heart forever:
